Step 1 is to acknowledge that you are a sinner and have sinned.
As it is written there is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10
For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Step 2 is to realize that there is a penalty for your sin.
For the wages of sin is death… Romans 6:23a
The word “death” means separation. The death referred to here means eternal separation from God in the lake of fire as stated in Revelation.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8
Step 3 is to acknowledge that Christ paid the penalty of sin for you.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Step 4 is to acknowledge that Christ wants to give you the free gift of eternal life in Heaven.
…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23b
Step 5 is that you must believe in Christ and ask Him to be your Savior.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou SHALT BE SAVED. Romans 10:9
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:10
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
As you think on these truths, will you right now confess your sin to God and ask Christ to come into your heart and life? Then, attend a good fundamental Bible-believing church, publicly confess Christ as your Savior and follow Him in the believer’s baptism.
For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth in Him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10:11
